about

Firstly - my music is born of meditation - devotion - hence Fragrance - because it's incense - ambience - it's my way of interfacing with mythic process - in this case the Stations of the Nativity - not just the ones in the bible, but also the apocryphal accounts that feed into so-called folk tradition - which I suspect might be a two-way passage given its nature as free wheeling feral storytelling.

Secondly - in that sense - and in others - I'd like to think of this music as being Not Just for Christmas because Christmas in so many ways defines my soul - my life - the dark hush as the year turns on its solstitial axis and winter begins in earnest - and so we look on in awe - knowing that whilst from hereon in the nights get lighter, spring is still a long way off.

Thirdly, is the fact that Humanity's response to this is one of the more enduring mysteries of our collective feral soul, wherein what is inherently sacred becomes, by some necessity, manifest in the immediacy of our subjective vernacular context. Thus what emerges is an inevitability born of Traditional Process according to an inner aesthetic which, given its general ubiquity, might best be described as innate - hence both not just that ubiquity but its very diversity.

Enough said.

about

Hermione Harvestman UK

'I feel like Wainwright - we are both hermetic ramblers. He made his books for when he was no longer capable of rambling his beloved fells, and I made my music for when I'm no longer able to ramble the by-ways of Albion - but only to listen, and think "Was that really me? That solitary figure who stood in a landscape dreaming of ages past in dread fear of the future."
