These edits, I feel, reveal much of the spontaneous structural thinking of Hermione Harvestman as an improviser. Basically they're a straight cut into two halves, fading out from side one & fading in on side two. But at that midway point the music undergoes a sea-change, at once conclusive of the foregoing and anticipatory of what is to follow. As Hermione wrote on hearing the edt:

'I'm as amazed at this as anyone. I had no idea of the duration of the piece when I was playing it, much less that it would be marked by so obvious a halfway mark as one thing ended and the other began. But why should I be surprised when music is a revelatory medium? Such structures are as innate of Folk Tale Morphology and syntactic structure. All is narrative, anciently wrought as poetry and the patterns beneath the plough.'
